Sock School is back for the summer, and this will be my 5th year of virtual Sock School where I encourage you to fill up your handmade sock drawer! I have planned a wonderful line-up of activities to help us all feel connected, supported, and as joyful as possible. You are cordially invited to knit along!
Here's everything you need to know about my Sock School Knit-Along:
Socks are my perfect summer knitting: they’re light, portable, and an amazing stress-buster. Also, having a drawer full of handknit socks is pretty much the most luxurious thing ever.
Sock School is completely online:
Attend a special workshop with sustainable fashion superstar Aja Barber
Saturday, August 22 (reservation link to come).
Learn more about sustainable fashion and anti-racism, and get Aja's tips on how to style outfits to show off your handknit socks.
Gather in free Zoom sessions for knitting help and camaraderie:
Friday, August 14: Cast on together
Saturday, September 5: Troubleshooting & progress check-in
Friday, September 18: Show off your socks
Read-aloud with the beagle and me
Every Saturday morning (just like old school cartoons), Miss Molly and I will be reading a favorite picture book. And, on one of the Saturdays, our special friend, Genevieve Knitmore, will be reading to you!
There are lots of ways to participate in Sock School.
I’ve planned a wonderful set of “school supplies” if you want to buy something new and special for your Sock School adventure. New yarns and commemorative project bags will be in the shop starting Friday, August 7. If you're able to shop, thank you,and if it's not in the budget right now, please know that you don't need to buy anything to participate. Just grab a skein of sock yarn and tag me into your Instagram plans with #sockschool.
