What is Secret Shop?

A funny thing happens when you dye yarn for a living. As you create new colorways, you end up tinkering a lot … and somehow end up with extra yarn. Sometimes lots of extra yarn.

The creative process of knowing my materials and exploring the limits of what yarn and dye can do together is an integral part making the final colorways I offer you on pre-order. I also dye in lots of 4, even if someone preorders a single skein. It's how I can maintain optimal color quality. But, this also means I end up with lots of extra yarn in my bins of onesies, twosies (and sometimes foursies) after tinkering with colors, over-dyeing, glazing, fulfilling preorders and just generally experimenting.

I thought it would be fun to start a regular routine of offering these skeins only to newsletter subscribers—and at a discount.

The colors you'll see in the Secret Shop (mostly) aren't repeatable. They are one-of-a-kind. If there are multiples of a color you love with, you ought to buy everything that's on offer, because it (likely) won't be around again.

I'm delighted to give you a 20% discount on these experimental skeins because it helps me keep my small studio space organized and streamlined, and it helps keep my inventory low(ish), and it helps give me working capital to invest in new bases, new experiments, and develop new offerings.

The Secret Shop will open for 3 days at a time when I have enough extra yarn accumulated for you.

The shop last opened on June 27, 2024, and I anticipate it'll open again sometime in August.
