Hold this yarn with another wool to make a cloud-like fabric.
Yak lace is my newest way to add “fluff” to your sweater. Just hold it double with another strand of yarn.
This is a laceweight single-ply blend of yak, baby alpaca, silk, and wool. The naturally grey yak fiber is what gives this yarn its gorgeous soft grey color.
42% baby alpaca, 35% silk, 13% ultra-soft 18.5 micron non-superwash merino wool, 10% yak

Currently offered as a 2-3 week preorder while I wait for a restock to arrive.
I offer yak lace undyed, which is a wonderful way to “mix” your own colors in knitted fabric.
The undyed yarn makes the final fabric both lighter in shade, and the natural grey will soften stronger colors.
You can take virtually any pattern that calls for a worsted weight yarn and use yak lace + a fingering weight yarn. It blooms and fluffs, resulting in a fabric that is highly resistant to pilling. It also marls and softens color to create completely new shades and tones.
Is it more expensive to knit a sweater like this?
Actually, no. Using this yarn plus a fingering weight yarn (to get a worsted weight gauge) is about the yardage of two worsted weight skeins. Two skeins = two skeins. (You can read more here.)
