Tidal Creek sweater kit | all sizes, one price

The Tidal Creek pattern has 12 sizes to fit people with bust/chest circumferences anywhere from 26 inches to 70 inches (65 to 175 cm).

The kit includes 8 skeins of yarn, which is enough to knit any of the 12 sizes with or without cup shaping (also known as bust darts).

The pattern recommends 7.5 to 8.5 inches of positive ease, which means that you should choose a size larger than your actual body measurement.

I chose 2.75 inches of positive ease for both Marjorie and me.

We each are wearing size 3, which means the sweater is 42.75 inches in circumference at the full bust. We have the same upper bust/full bust measurements, so our sweaters have an identical amount of ease: 2.75 inches.

Marjorie’s version is cropped: 11 inches inches including hem from sleeve) and mine is full-length: 13.75 inches including hem from sleeve.

Tidal Creek is an achievable project for new lace knitters, as well as knitters who have knit many sweaters.

The sweater is knit bottom up, in pieces, and then the body of the sweater is seamed. You will then pick up stitches for the sleeves and knit down, in the round.

The lace is simple to work and there is a chart as well as row-by-row instructions.

The pattern techniques include:

• Increases and decreases in lace
• Seaming
• I-cord finishing
• Picking up stitches and knitting sleeves in the round

It might seem a bit unusual for a kit to include yarn for all sizes, but here's why I do it this way:

• It lets you knit a larger size than you might have originally intended, or make modifications, without playing yarn chicken.
• It centers the experience and needs of the largest bodies in our community in a way that's helpful for everyone.
• If you happen to have yarn left over, you can knit a matching accessory (like a hat or cowl).

You'll get three months of access to my 1-on-1 office hours, starting when your kit ships.

You can schedule a 1:1 appointment time during my office hours (in 10 minute blocks) to help you do things like:

• Choose a size
• Talk about alternating skeins
• Work through anything you find tricky
