The Garden Sprinkles sock colorway was created by Western Sky Knits exclusively for Little Skein, and it is an utterly jubilant collection of bright Secret Garden colors in one, beautiful sprinkle sock.
The modeled sock is knit in a slip stitch recipe to minimize pooling (pattern available free on Ravelry), and we also show what Garden Sprinkles looks like in the beautiful Monkey Sock pattern by Cookie A, free on Knitty.com. Whatever pattern you choose for this brightly variegated yarn, it's sure to be gorgeous.
This yarn base is a new one for Western Sky Knits, and it's my absolute favorite blend for socks: 80% hard-wearing blue-faced Leicester yarn mixed with 20% nylon. It can be a bit thin while knitting, but when it's washed, it plumps up oh so beautifully and wears like iron. My own Sprinkle Socks look fresh off the needles after multiple wearings and machine washings, and you can expect yours to be equally durable.
Garden Sprinkles comes in skeins of:- 100 grams (3.5 ounces)
The first line of each product listing says whether the item is ready-to-ship or a preorder.
Ready-to-ship items are just that – already made and on hand. If your order includes only ready-to-ship items, it will be on its way to you within 2 to 3 business days.
Preorders for nearly all items in the Secret Garden collection can be placed anytime between September 19 and November 1. Preorders ship approximately 4 weeks after your order date.
I am delighted to introduce you to the artists involved in the Secret Garden kit:
Alana Dakos of Never Not Knitting designed this beautiful shawl exclusively for Little Skein. The shawl is the centerpiece of the Secret Garden kit and available only as part of a Little Skein kit until the end of October, when it will become available as an individual pattern on Ravelry.
Western Sky Knits created the yarn and color palette for the kit, drawing inspiration from traditional English cottage gardens which are a riot of greens, pinks, blues, and purples.
Melissa Jean Designs created an original and exclusive button closure for the Secret Garden shawl, echoing the lovely color palette on a hand-cut ceramic button in leaf form.
Leslie Wind, jewelry artist and knitter, created an utterly unique shawl pin closure for the Secret Garden shawl, perfectly picking up the leaf design in hand-hammered sterling silver or bronze. See Leslie's other shawl pins and tools for knitters at her online shop.
Michal Gal-Marko, an Israeli-based artist, adapted her original artwork to create the base illustrations used in the fabric design for my Secret Garden kit. Her girl and fox motif perfectly captures the wonder and friendship of The Secret Garden. View her gorgeous collection of stationery and home products at her online shop.
Little Skein in the Big Wool. I curated the kit, as well as designing many of the items inside it. I created the fabric, working with Michal's gorgeous illustrations and supplementing them with watercolor graphics, as well as the stitch markers, zipper pulls, and embroidery supply kits.
