a fresh take on a classic look for your pup with clean lines and intuitive shaping
Designer Jacqueline Cieslak and I, being the devoted dog people we are, collaborated on this adorable sweater kit for your sweet pup.
Our dogs Raii (Jacqui's miniature schnauzer) and Molly (my beagle) are the beautiful sweater models.*
The Ursa Canis dog sweater features seamless, top-down construction, so you can try it on your pup for fit as you go, and simple half-brioche detailing across the underside and legs, creating a stretchy, snug fit for the belly. With 12 sizes and an optional harness hole, this pattern is designed to be a go-to for knitters with cold-prone furry companions.
The sweet little kit includes:
The right amount of yarn in your choice of base. Raii's sweater is made with two yarns held together (Harvest Sport and Mohair Lace) for maximum warmth and style, and Molly's sweater is made with Targhee Sweater for rough and tumble pups who need a hearty, dirt-repelling yarn.
Illustrated recipe card for Raii & Molly's favorite seasonal pumpkin treats. (Dog lover tip: it's so much fun to bake for your pupper!)
PDF pattern & keepsake pattern postcard: You'll get a download code for the pattern together with a keepsake picture postcard. Beautifully wrapped, with all my usual sweet packaging details.
A few important things:
Pattern download codes are emailed manually. Please give me a day or so to get your code to you.
Not sure which size to order?
Jacqui's advice is to measure your pup's "chest circumference at the widest point (probably just behind their front legs) and choose the size with the closest exact chest measurement. Sweater can fit comfortably with up to 2”/5 cm of positive ease but no more than 1”/2.5 cm of negative ease." Raii is wearing a size 4 and Molly is wearing a size 7. See Jacqui's test knitting round-up for more doggie models and sizing tips.
This is a preorder, which means it will ship in 2 to 3 weeks and sooner if I can.
If you want to make a matching sweater for yourself, just see Jacqui's Ursa (for bulky yarn) and Ursina (for sport and worsted weight yarn); both links go to Ravelry. I can dye a sweater quantity to match your Ursa Canis kit!
*Fun fact: Molly, who is reactive and uninterested in nearly all other dogs, fell in love-at-first-sight with Raii. The feeling was not mutual, and Raii remains indifferent. 💕 Molly remains in eternal, unrequited love. 💕
