Whimsical fabric, classic good looks. My drawstring project bags are perfect for a one or two skein knitting project.

I am so delighted to release Bold & Brave project bags, which feature original illustrations created by artist Chamisa Kellogg exclusively for my shop. She perfectly captured the confident, whimsical, and intrepid spirit of Pippi Longstocking!

The exterior fabric is custom printed for me on my signature cotton-linen fabric, and the interior fabric is custom printed on Kona cotton. I pair the exterior fabric with a coordinating canvas bottom to give the bag a bit of extra structure and durability, and also to highlight the focal fabric. I then line it with a whimsical and coordinating quilting cotton print.

My drawstring project bags have plenty of room for one and two skein projects. Your yarn and your work-in-progress will easily fit inside, and it will cinch tight with a grosgrain ribbon and cordlock drawstring, to keep little hands (or little paws) away from your knitting.

If you'll be carrying the project bag by itself, you might want to add a fabric handle to it. These are $5 each. (For myself, I rarely carry a project bag without a purse, so almost always forgo the handle.)

    My drawstring project bag:

    - Are approx. 10" to 11" tall and 10" wide when the bag is flat, with a 5" by 5" square base.

    - Are made of 100% cotton or cotton/linen fabric

    - Include a "word ring" that can be used as a connector for other bags or handles

    - Are machine stitched with beautiful top-stitching and fully enclosed seams

    - Are created with love in a kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and smoke-free studio. (Our beagle pup, Molly, doesn't help with sewing, but she's around the studio so if you are highly allergic, please be aware that your bag will not be hypoallergenic.)

Each bag is carefully handcrafted, so you should expect there to be some variation in fabric placement, as well as minor variations in size or shape. Your satisfaction is very important to me. Please let me know if you're not completely delighted with your purchase.

  • The Bold and Brave collection, inspired by the irrepressible Pippi Longstocking, is a mix of preorder and ready-to-ship items. If your order contains only ready-to-ship items, it will be on its way in 2 to 3 business days. Preorders ship in 3 to 4 weeks, and sooner if we can. If your order contains both ready-to-ship and preordered items, it will ship in one package when the preordered portion is ready.

Please feel free to be in touch with us at any time if you have questions about your order or when it will be ready to ship. We're delighted to help!

  • I am delighted to introduce you to the artists involved with the Bold and Brave kit and collection:

Knitwear designer and podcaster Megan Williams created the Fierce, Freckled Friend socks exclusively for our Bold and Brave kit. These beautiful toe-up knee socks are a tribute to the irrepressible Pippi and a reminder to add a little Pippi to your life – to always speak up, to be creative, and to be yourself and no one else.

Two Sisters Yarn Company created three beautiful colorways for this collection: two self-striping options and a speckled (or freckled!) yarn. Anne and Jolene's Big Sky Base has become one of my favorites; it's soft and light and creates a beautifully hard-wearing fabric. Their dyeing styles are perfectly whimsical and clever, just like Pippi.

Chamisa Kellogg is the talented artist who created the beautiful drawings that capture the spirit, joy and delight of Miss Pippilotta Longstocking and her Swedish world for the kit. Chamisa's drawings have become the Bold and Brave kit fabrics, laser-cut etchings on the sock gauge ruler, our "Follow Your Own Rules" greeting card and more.

Tuft Woolens created a sparkling fresh sock soap in a Pippi-mint fragrance for this kit, so you can have as much fun washing your socks as wearing them. I am a fan of Martha's soaps and wool washes and am delighted to partner with her again.

and me, Anne of Little Skein in the Big Wool. I'm the curator of the Bold and Brave kit: I bring everything together and share ideas with each of the artists so the kit becomes a cohesive whole. I create the stitch markers, sew the project bags (with our team) and hand-pack each order.

We hope you love our creations!
