Blue Christmas | Harvest

  • The perfect lightweight, non-superwash sweater yarn.
I am delighted to debut my new Harvest base. Harvest makes a perfect lightweight sweater, with bounce, slight sheen and drape.

I firmly believe that color applied to yarn by hand, as I do, takes on a vibrancy and life that can’t be mass-produced. Each skein is full of kindness, beauty, and an authentic creativity.

100% non-superwash domestic Merino & Rambouillet wool blend
    312 yards | 100 grams
    3-ply construction

    Color notes

Blue Christmas was my holiday colorway last year but I find that I keep coming back to it again and again. I start with a layer of silver-gold moonlight, and then I add the crisp happiness of a first Christmas. I speckle it with stardust, evergreen pine, and the ache of heartbreak.

Yarn details and care instructions on the tabs (above).

  • Harvest is my perfect yarn for lighter-weight sweaters and accessories and it has the added bonus of being gentle on the earth: it's non-superwash and grown domestically in the United States. It is a round 3-ply yarn with a tight twist. The twist helps it take color a bit more dramatically than other non-superwash yarns. It holds its shape and does not grow too much when blocking.

    • Use for next-to-skin sweaters and accessories.

    • Not ideal for socks because of the fine wool content (the regular wear and tear of socks will cause pilling, so they won't last as long).

    • Looks best at a gauge of 20 to 22 per 4 inches, which is usually achieved with a needle size of US 4 to 6 (3.5 to 4 mm).

Beauty in difference. Each skein is dyed by hand in small batches of just 4 or 5 skeins. There will be variations in color intensity and placement. We think that’s part of what makes each skein perfect – they’re not identical. If you will be using more than 1 skein in your project, alternate skeins to blend any color differences.

  • Care for your Little Skein yarn as you would a fine garment.

Your finished shawl or other item should be hand-washed in cold water with a gentle wool wash and cold-water rinse. Depending on the difference in chemistry between your local water and mine, there may be some color bleeding in the wash process. Washing and rinsing in cold water will help to minimize this.

gorgeous and lovely to work with

I love, love the harvest sport! It’s lovely to knit with and wear and the colors have been so beautiful. I’ve gotten caramel apple, sugar maple, and autumn light (the latter is probably my favorite). Absolutely recommend this yarn and Iooking forward to trying other bases!

Love it 💕

I’ve loved this color for a long time and am so happy to have it on a non-superwash yarn, perfect for a cozy cardigan. Can’t wait to get started!

I bought it a while ago in august and I am just now knitting with it and i have to say it is soooo gorgeous!! The pink with the bits of yellow speckled throughout is such a beautiful, subtle touch and the fact that I read anne of green gables when I was younger makes this yarn even more dear to me. One day, i would love to go visit prince Edward island and where the story takes place but until then, I'll hold the yarn I got from the green gables collection close by!

Beautiful yarn!

Swing left is an absolutely gorgeous yarn, it's soft and deep. I immediately cast on to start some socks! I opted for the add on surprise mini skien, and it's a perfect contrasting color. I can't wait to wear my socks to vote!
