Baby, It's Cold Outside (Holiday 2017 colorway) | House Blend

  • The perfect yarn for shawls and accessories: ultra-soft and a luxury to work with.

House Blend is my perfect fiber blend for shawls and accessories. It's an ultra-soft combination of merino, cashmere and nylon, with a gentle twist that neither too tight nor too loose. It's soft, drapey, is beautiful to touch and work with, and takes on lovely tonal colors.

    Little Skein's House Blend
    Colorway: Baby, It's Cold Outside
80% superwash merino wool, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon
    435 yards | 100 grams
    4-ply construction

Color notes: Baby, It's Cold Outside is dyed with layers of icy blue and grey and then speckled with shades of frosted sugarplum and starry nights.

  • House Blend is a soft and drapey yarn. It's best used for next-to-skin accessories such as shawls, hats, mitts, and cowls. It's not ideal for socks, because of the cashmere content which isn't hard-wearing like our House Sock yarn.

For accessories,, aim for a gauge of 22 to 24 stitches per 4 inches, which is usually achieved with a needle size of US 4 to 6 (3.5 to 4 mm).

  • The colors for our house yarns are dreamed of in San Francisco, where my home studio is located, and hand-dyed by me in my small studio or by my colleague in Maine.

I use a variety of creative inspirations for my colors, from the colors of my beloved San Francisco, to literature, to Pantone inspirations. I design the yarn from color to style and it is then brought to life by my expert dye partner.

Yarn is dyed in small batches, with color applied by hand and using professional acid dyes.

Care: We recommend that you hand wash our yarns in cold or lukewarm water and lay your knitted item flat to dry. While superwash yarns are treated so that they can be machine washed, taking care to wash by hand and air dry will greatly prolong the life of your handknit item.

Can’t wait to knit!!

Lovely yarn, love the house blend, waiting for the perfect project. Thinking I will knit it up with an orphan skein of lt. blue wool/silk lace weight I found at my LYS.
