Time Traveler shawl pattern

Time Traveler is an asymmetrical 2-skein, fingering weight shawl.

Inspiration

Time Traveler celebrates the space between joy and grief, where you find out who you are and where you belong. It is inspired by Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, a marvelous story of being swept back in time 200 years to find another life and adventure, and the shawl likewise has elements of the unexpected. It is an asymmetrical triangle and knit on the bias. Its delicately curved shape and feminine picot edge make it both versatile to wear and utterly romantic.

Construction

You start at one tip of the shawl, increase by two stitches at the beginning of each right side and decrease by one stitch at the end of each right side row, so the fabric will bias as the shawl increases in size. When all but 10g of your yarn has been used, you will bind off to create a triangle shape.

Yarn requirements

approximately 800 yards of fingering weight yarn

The pattern makes the most of two skeins of fingering weight yarn. You can use two matching skeins for a solid colored shawl or two coordinating colors. It looks especially lovely with one semi-solid and one variegated colorway.

Finished size

80 inches wingspan and 20 inches at the deepest point of the triangle.
