Texture Garden Cardigan is inspired by patchwork without seaming!
This pattern is all about mixing and matching colors and texture to create your own unique piece for your wardrobe.
It’s also a stash busting design! Even if you run out of yarn. Maybe it’s your main color or the contrasts ones. No worries! This pattern is all about mixing and matching. There are so many ways to combine colors and the different stitch types.
You can follow the instructions but not follow the color placement.
You can bring in leftover yarn if you’re just missing that little bit.
If you’re sick of knitting a certain stitch, you can change it to any of the other stitch types as long as it’s close to the intended row count to not change any of the measurements
The recommended ease is 16 to 20 inches (40 to 50 cm), but you can create a sweater with less ease if you prefer.
Tina is modeling her sweater with 19.5 inches (49 cm) of positive ease. Anne plans to knit a closer-fitting cardigan with just 4 to 5 inches of positive ease.
You need 3 colors of yarn, in varying quantities. If you will be knitting from stash, look at picture 2 for exact yardages.
If you will be buying my Targhee Sock, here are the calculations:
Sizes 1 to 4
43.5 inches to 59.5 inches | 109 cm to 148 cm
Sizes 5 to 7
65 inches to 75.5 inches | 163 cm to 190 cm
Size 8
81 inches | 203 cm
The yardage requirements in Tina's pattern say that you need:
But,
you will only just be breaking into those extra skeins (when compared
to yarn requirements for size 7). If you are a confident knitter (make
sure you get gauge, unravel your swatch, add in a tiny bit of extra
stash yarn if needed), you can very likely make it work with the yarn requirements for size 7.
24 stitches and 30 rows/rounds in 4"/10cm in an average of all stitch types, after blocking.
Construction: The fronts and back are knit flat, and side seams are then sewn together, leaving length for armhole opening. The sleeves are knit in the round.
Skills: Knitting flat, knit and purl stitches, picking up stitches for sleeves, knitting in the round.
This pattern has been test knitted, and test knitters' work is featured on Tina's blog.
