Roomy, beautiful, with expert construction. My shawl-sized zipper bag perfectly fits a two or three skein shawl project.
This is a roomy bag that can fit three skeins, side by side, and still have room on top for your work-in-progress. (I start most of my sweater projects in a bag this size!)
Shawl bags are hand-crafted out of my signature cotton-linen fabric, or a Japanese cotton-linen, which tends to be a bit softer and wonderfully flexible. I've found that most knitters have a favorite style for their zipper bags -- they might like to squish them down, or they like the bag to firmly "stand up" on its own. I make shawl bags in three styles:
- Soft: This has no interfacing and is soft, flexible, and easily squishable. It's a wonderfully durable bag, given the nature of cotton-linen fabric, and folds easily and generally without creases.
- Stiff: This style has a fusible, midweight interfacing ironed to the inside of the exterior fabric to give it extra body and heft. This bag will easily stand open on its own, with or without a project inside. It will crease when folded, but will bounce back nicely after being pressed with a hot iron.
- Squishy: This is my personal favorite and has a fusible fleece interfacing. It gives a slightly puffy profile to the bag, and makes it super squishy. It remains flexible and more difficult to crease (like a soft bag) but has more body and can stand open by itself (like a stiff bag). This style of bag reminds me of how a quilted bag might feel, just without the quilt lines.
This design was created with the following options:
Exterior fabric: Custom-printed cotton-linen fabric
Interfacing: All options (soft, squishy and stiff)
Interior fabric: Coordinating quilting cotton print
Word ring says: HAPPINESS or JOY
Zipper color: Avocado green
My shawl-sized zipper bags:
- Are approx. 13 to 14" wide and 8.5" to 9" tall, with an 8" by 5" rectangular base
- Are made of 100% cotton or cotton/linen fabric
- Have fabric tabs at the ends of the zipper, made of the coordinating interior print, for a polished and adorable look
- Include a "word ring" that can be used as a connector for other bags or handles
- Are machine stitched with beautiful top-stitching and fully enclosed seams
- Have a satin ribbon zipper pull
- Are created with love in a kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and smoke-free studio. (Our beagle pup, Molly, doesn't help with sewing, but she's around the studio so if you are highly allergic, please be aware that your bag will not be hypoallergenic.)
Each bag is carefully handcrafted, so you should expect there to be some variation in fabric placement, as well as minor variations in size or shape. Your satisfaction is very important to me. Please let me know if you're not completely delighted with your purchase.

Original fabric, classic design. My drawstring project bags are perfect for a one or two skein knitting project.
A Little Skein project bag is utterly unique. Most of the fabrics we use are original and exclusive to our shop. First, we work with an illustrator to bring a particular idea to life and print the design on substantial cotton-linen fabric (similar to a decor weight). Then, we craft our project bags one at a time, with an eye for detail, and finish them by hand.
Our drawstring bags are generously-sized and have plenty of room for one and two skein projects. Your yarn and work-in-progress will easily fit inside, and it will cinch tight with a grosgrain ribbon and cordlock drawstring to keep little hands (or paws) away from your project. It's made with a coordinating canvas bottom to highlight the exterior fabric and also give the bottom a bit of extra durability and protection.
I don't include a wristlet handle by default but am happy to make one for you. (See the "adding a handle" tab above for more details.)
Drawstring project bags are:
Approximately 10" tall and 10" in circumference, with a 5" by 5" square base.
Made of 100% cotton and cotton/linen fabric.
Made with a "word ring" that can be used as a connector for other bags or handles.
Machine stitched with beautiful top-stitching and fully enclosed seams.
Created with love in a kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and smoke-free studio.
I don't include a wristlet handle by default. (I usually just pop my project bag into my purse, so I find a handle to be mostly extraneous.)
If you'd like a handle, though, I'm delighted to sew one for you out of matching fabric. Wristlet handles are $5 each, and measure 9 inches long from tip to tip, with a 1 inch swivel clasp that clips onto the bag's word ring and a 6-inch fabric open loop.
Handles are sewn to order, so if you order one, please allow a few extra days for your order to ship.

These are my favorite style of stitch markers: beautiful, classic beaded rings that look like jewelry amongst your stitches, with a whimsical charmed "master" marker.
They are made in a universal size of 10mm, which glides smoothly and easily over smaller knitting needles such as a US size 3 (3.25mm) all the way up to a US size 9 (5.5mm). You'll receive a set just like the one pictured, with one master charmed ring and seven beaded rings. You can also choose the packaging you'd like: a small glass bottle with a cork, a round tin with a Little Skein bunny top, or I can surprise you.
My stitch markers are snag- and tangle-free. They feature a single jump ring made out of substantial 18-gauge base metal, with a color-coordinated Japanese glass seed bead. The ends of the ring are secured inside the bead, so the stitch marker is completely smooth to the touch and will not snag your knitting.

Each marker is carefully handcrafted from silver-toned base metal, Japanese glass seed beads, epoxy glue, and imagination.
