We're on vacation! The shop will be fully stocked when we reopen on August 10.

All About Sock School

June 20, 2017 0 Comments

Remember the books you first discovered in school which grabbed your heart and wouldn’t let go? Perhaps in third grade it was Charlotte’s Web? In high school, maybe it was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn? This summer, indulge in sentimental summer sock knitting inspired by your favorite books. Join us for Little Skein's second annual Sock School!

Your hosts

The wonderful Amber from The Yarn Hoarder podcast (@yarnhoarder) and I will be knitting socks all summer, and we'd love for you to knit with us. Sock School is our summer sock knitalong.

Why?

Socks are the perfect summer knitting. You can relax poolside and knit some vanilla socks, or challenge yourself to knit your first pair of socks, try a new heel construction, or finally finish up some sock WIPs.

How to participate

There are lots of ways to join in:

When

This relaxed and happy knitalong officially begins June 20, the summer solstice here in California, and continues through Labor Day. Join in at any time.

School supplies

We will, of course, have some wonderful new school supplies! Beginning June 20 and restocking all summer, we will have in the shop:

  • 3 new “house” colorways in perfect sock bases, inspired by my sentimental summer reading

  • Exclusive guest yarns from Woolberry Fiber Co., Sweet Sparrow Yarns and Highland Handmades, inspired by the dyers’ favorite books

  • A “tandem” shop update from our wonderful sock knitting friend, Must Stash Yarns, who has developed a stripey sock yarn just for Sock School (available NOW in her shop)

  • Commemorative Sock School project bags and notions packs

  • Beautiful wooden sock knitting tools

Please note: schools supplies are ready-to-ship, so stock will come and go. We promise to make as much as we can throughout the summer.

All the fine print

  • We’ll have prizes, drawn from Instagram and Ravelry.
  • We’ll also have special blog post giveaways and podcast giveaways.
  • You don’t need to use school yarns to join in.
  • WIPs and double-dipping allowed!
